Nhat Phi is a poor country boy who lives with his parents, two younger siblings and his grandmother. Being the eldest, he is an example to his younger siblings as well as the pride of his parents.
However, one day tragedy strikes and both his parents die in a storm, with his grandmother dying shortly after. In order to support his two younger siblings he quits his studies and moves to the city in order to find work. After doing several small jobs, he is eventually hired as a manager at a hotel.
